Notification Tracking

A notification is the only document that binds the examiner. Everything else — coaching material, guides, this site — is a description of it, and descriptions go out of date. When a notification appears for an exam you intend to sit, reading it end to end is not optional diligence; it is the single most important hour of that cycle.

The reason is that notifications change. Age bands are revised, negative marking rates are altered, stages are added or removed, and eligibility conditions are tightened. Candidates preparing from a guide written for an earlier cycle have arrived at examinations expecting a structure that no longer existed.

Notifications 2026: what the conducting bodies have published, newest first

Every row is a notification read on the commission’s or board’s own site or PDF, with the vacancies, the application window and the examination dates it fixes. Where a date is tentative the row says so.

Reading it

What to check, in order

  1. Eligibility and age, including relaxations. Both by post, where they differ. This is where a cycle is most often lost before it begins.
  2. The exam pattern section. Number of stages, marks, timing, sectional limits and — critically — the negative marking rate, which decides your guessing threshold.
  3. Which stages count towards the merit. A qualifying stage and a merit stage call for very different preparation, and the distinction is stated here.
  4. Physical, medical and skill test requirements. These arrive last and cannot be prepared for quickly. Find out in week one what you will be measured against.
  5. Application dates, fees and documents required. Along with the correction window, if one is provided.
  6. The post-wise vacancy and preference details. Which determine what you are actually competing for.

Commonly missed

The details candidates skip

  • Changes to the negative marking rate — a change from a quarter to a third alters your guessing arithmetic materially, and it is stated in one line.
  • New qualifying components — a typing test, an aptitude battery or a language paper added to a familiar exam.
  • Post-specific eligibility — in exams like SSC CGL and SSC JE, different posts carry different age bands and qualification requirements.
  • Documents required at application — category certificates in a specific format, with a specific validity, are a common cause of rejected applications.

Questions

Notification Tracking — FAQs

Which government job notifications are open right now?

As of 19 September 2026: UPSC Engineering Services 2027 (480 posts, to 6 October), SSC CPO 2026 (2,018 posts, to 30 September), SSC CHSL 2026 (about 2,536, to 7 October), SSC JE 2026 (1,748, to 22 September with no extension), IBPS RRB XV (13,745, to 21 September), UIIC Administrative Officers (to 28 September), RRB Paramedical CEN 05/2026 (590 posts, to 14 October), CLAT 2027 (to 31 October) and AILET 2027 (to 10 November), with APPSC’s twenty brief notifications (892 posts) opening their windows from 6 October and Andhra Pradesh’s seven police notifications (2,197 posts) awaiting their application dates. The application-forms page lists them by closing date.

Why should I read the full notification rather than a summary?

Because the notification is the only document that binds the examiner, and it changes between cycles. Age bands, negative marking rates, stage structures, qualifying components and post-specific eligibility have all been revised without much fanfare, and a summary written for an earlier cycle will describe an examination that no longer exists. Reading the current notification end to end takes about an hour and is the most valuable hour of a preparation cycle.

What is the most commonly missed detail in a notification?

Post-specific eligibility, followed by changes to the negative marking rate. In examinations like SSC CGL and SSC JE, different posts carry different age bands and qualification requirements, and a candidate who reads only the general eligibility statement can apply for a post they do not qualify for. Changes to negative marking are stated in a single line and materially alter how you should guess — which is why the pattern section deserves a careful read even for an exam you have sat before.

How do I know when a notification is released?

The conducting body’s own website is the authoritative source, and aggregated notification pages are useful for noticing releases quickly rather than for acting on details. The practical approach is to check the official site for the exams you are targeting on a fixed schedule, and to set your own reminders for expected notification periods rather than relying on remembering — application windows are usually a few weeks and a missed one costs a full cycle.
