COMEDK UGET 2026 Counselling, Result, Cut-off Ranks, Exam Date, Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Fee, Colleges and Free COMEDK Mock Tests

COMEDK UGET is the common entrance test for private engineering colleges in Karnataka that belong to the consortium. It is a straightforward paper — sixty questions each in physics, chemistry and mathematics, three hours, no negative marking — and it leads into the consortium’s own counselling process.

What makes it worth understanding beyond the pattern is the tie-breaking rule. With no negative marking and a large field, identical scores are common, and the order in which ties are broken is defined in advance. It rewards mathematics over the other two subjects, which is a small but real strategic fact.

Where to read the cut-offs

COMEDK publishes the engineering cut-off ranks by college and branch after every allotment round (round 2 was notified on 7 August 2026) and the vacant seats after each decision-making window; those PDFs on comedk.org are the only reliable picture of what rank a branch at a college needs. Architecture admissions run on NATA scores through a separate COMEDK counselling.

Overview

What COMEDK UGET is, and who it suits

COMEDK conducts a single undergraduate entrance test used by its member private engineering institutions in Karnataka. Candidates who take it enter the consortium’s counselling process, where seats are allotted on rank and choice. It is a widely taken alternative and supplement to JEE Main for candidates targeting Karnataka.

The paper follows the class 11 and 12 syllabus in the three sciences with no additional sections, which makes it the most conventional of the private-college entrance tests. Its level sits between the state engineering entrances and JEE Main — harder than the former, gentler than the latter.

The features that shape strategy

  • No negative marking — so every question should be answered, exactly as in VITEEE.
  • A generous time allowance — a hundred and eighty questions in three hours is a minute each, which permits care.
  • Equal subject weighting — sixty questions each; no subject can be neglected in favour of another.
  • Defined tie-breaking — with mathematics weighted first, then physics, then chemistry, followed by further criteria.

The tie-breaking rule is worth knowing

Because there is no negative marking and the field is large, identical total scores are common. Ties are resolved by a defined sequence — typically the mathematics score first, then physics, then chemistry, with further criteria after that. Confirm the current sequence in the brochure, but the general point holds: mathematics accuracy carries a little more weight than its share of the marks suggests.

Also from the site

  • Open to all — the test is all-India; Karnataka domicile matters only for the reserved-category concession.
  • Uni-GAUGE E — the same test serves the Uni-GAUGE member universities; candidates tick both at application.
  • Third parties — COMEDK warns against internet cafés, consultants and unofficial sites; comedk.org is the only official website.

Selection process

How COMEDK UGET selection works

Each stage in order, and what it actually tests.

Stages change between cycles. Confirm the structure in the notification for the cycle you are sitting.
StageFormatWhat it involves
COMEDK UGET online testComputer-based, 180 questions, 3 hours, in a slot on the test admission ticketSixty questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, one mark a question, no deduction. Answers can be reviewed and changed any time within the session; the medium is English.
Answer keys, rank and score cardProvisional keys with objections, final keys, then the test rankIn 2026 the provisional keys came a week after the test with a two-day objection window, the final keys a week later and the rank cards on 29 May. Scores are converted to percentiles normalised across sessions; ties are broken on the higher percentile in Physics and Mathematics together, then Mathematics, then Chemistry, then the older candidate.
Online counsellingRegistration, document verification, choice filling and allotment roundsCOMEDK runs the single-window counselling for its member colleges: registration and document upload, choice filling, allotment with accept-and-freeze, accept-and-upgrade or reject-and-upgrade decisions, and reporting to the college. Cut-off ranks and vacant seats are published after every round.

Application to counselling

How COMEDK UGET runs, from the February form to the May test, the rank card and the allotment rounds

The steps follow the 2026 calendar of events, the information brochure and the counselling process document on comedk.org.

The COMEDK process

  1. Apply on comedk.org Register with an e-mail and mobile number, fill the online application form, upload the photograph, signature and ID, choose test-city preferences and pay the fee online — ₹1,950 for COMEDK, ₹1,600 for Uni-GAUGE E or ₹3,200 for both, plus transaction charges. A mock test is available to registered candidates from mid-February.
  2. Edit window and test admission ticket Selected fields can be edited in the April window; the test admission ticket with the centre and slot is downloaded from about ten days before the examination. Requests to change city or slot are not entertained.
  3. The test Three hours on a computer with 180 questions; answers can be changed any time before the session ends; buffer systems cover machine faults and the lost time is restored.
  4. Answer keys and rank Provisional keys go up a week after the test with a two-day objection window (₹500 per challenge, refunded if upheld), the final keys a week later, and the rank and score cards a week after that; scores are converted to percentiles normalised across sessions.
  5. Counselling registration and document verification Registration on the counselling portal with the rank card and documents (class-12 marks card, category and domicile certificates, ID); verification is online, with a counselling fee.
  6. Choice filling, allotment and reporting Rounds of choice filling and allotment: accept-and-freeze, accept-and-upgrade or reject-and-upgrade in the early rounds, with the fee paid at COMEDK level; later rounds restrict the options. Reporting at the allotted college by the deadline is mandatory, and failing to join after accepting forfeits the fee and attracts a penalty.

Exam pattern

COMEDK UGET exam pattern and marking

The COMEDK UGET exam pattern below is the test pattern on comedk.org for 2026: 180 multiple-choice questions in three hours, one mark each, no negative marking, English only, on the CBSE syllabus with about a third from class 11 and two-thirds from class 12.

No deduction means attempt everything

With no negative marking a blank question is a certain zero and a guess is a free chance; the only reason to leave a question is time. Physics and Mathematics decide ties, which is one more reason to give them the minutes.

Study plan

How to prepare for COMEDK UGET

COMEDK is a class 11–12 paper at JEE Main level without the negative mark: 180 questions in 180 minutes, a minute each, where coverage and speed matter more than depth. Candidates preparing for JEE Main and the state CETs add COMEDK with a few weeks of paper practice.

Six-week plan for COMEDK alongside JEE Main.
WeeksWorkOutput
1–3Class 12 syllabus revision (two-thirds of the paper) from NCERT; class 11 high-weight chaptersChapter checklist against the COMEDK syllabus PDFs
4–5Sectional speed tests — 60 questions in 60 minutes per subjectAttempt rate of 180 in 180 minutes
6Full mocks on the COMEDK mock-test interface; test admission ticket downloadedEvery question attempted

What high-ranked candidates do

  • They attempt all 180 — there is no penalty, and Physics and Mathematics percentiles break ties.
  • They weight class 12 — two-thirds of the questions come from it.
  • They read the previous cut-off ranks — the round-wise college and branch cut-offs on comedk.org set the target rank.

Questions

COMEDK UGET — FAQs

How does COMEDK compare with JEE Main in difficulty?

It sits between the state engineering entrances and JEE Main. The syllabus is the conventional class 11 and 12 science curriculum with no additional sections, and the questions are more demanding than a typical state paper but without the multi-concept problems that characterise harder JEE Main questions. A candidate preparing properly for JEE Main is already covering the content at more than sufficient depth.

How should I prepare for COMEDK alongside JEE?

The syllabus needs no additional study, so the work is in two other places. First, subject balance: because the three subjects are equally weighted, your weakest one caps your score directly, in a way that a weighted paper partly disguises — so give it disproportionate attention. Second, attempt habits: practise full three-hour papers with no penalty applied and every question answered, so the no-blanks discipline is automatic on the day.

When is COMEDK UGET 2027?

Not yet notified. COMEDK announced the 2026 date on 8 January 2026, opened applications on 3 February and held the test on Saturday 9 May 2026 with rank cards on 29 May; the 2027 notice is expected on comedk.org in December 2026 or January 2027, with the test again in the second week of May.

What is the COMEDK UGET exam pattern?

A three-hour computer-based test of 180 multiple-choice questions — 60 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics — for 180 marks, one mark per correct answer and no deduction for a wrong one, in English only. The syllabus is the CBSE class 11 and 12 syllabus, about a third from class 11 and two-thirds from class 12.

Is there negative marking in COMEDK?

No. A correct answer earns one mark and a wrong or blank answer earns nothing, so every question should be attempted. Ties are broken on the higher percentile in Physics and Mathematics together, then in Mathematics, then in Chemistry, then age.

What is the COMEDK fee?

₹1,950 for the COMEDK UGET alone, ₹1,600 for Uni-GAUGE E alone and ₹3,200 for both, plus transaction charges, paid online by card or net banking; there is no offline mode. A challenge to the provisional answer key costs ₹500 per question, refunded in full if it is upheld.

Who is eligible for COMEDK UGET?

Indian citizens, OCIs and PIOs who have passed class 12 (second PUC or equivalent) with Physics, Mathematics and English plus Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics, scoring 45 per cent aggregate in PCM — 40 per cent for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka — with a pass in each subject, all from one board. Diploma holders are not eligible.

What were the COMEDK 2026 cut-off ranks?

COMEDK publishes the cut-off rank of every branch at every member college after each allotment round — the round 2 engineering cut-offs were notified on 7 August 2026 and the round 4 architecture cut-offs on 9 September — along with the vacant seats after each decision window. Those PDFs on comedk.org are the reference; the closing ranks differ widely between colleges and branches.

How does COMEDK counselling work?

Through COMEDK’s own online single-window counselling for the member colleges: registration with the rank card and documents, online verification, choice filling, and allotment rounds in which a candidate accepts and freezes, accepts and upgrades or rejects and upgrades, paying the fee at COMEDK level. Later rounds restrict the options, reporting to the allotted college is mandatory, and failing to join after accepting forfeits the fee with a penalty.

What are the COMEDK counselling dates 2026?

COMEDK published the 2026 rank cards on 29 May and ran its online counselling on comedk.org from June: document verification and option entry first, then round 1 seat allotment, round 2 and round 3 through July and early August, and a round 4 in August–September for the seats that remained. Each round has a choice-filling window, an allotment date and a reporting deadline at the allotted college, and a candidate who does not act within the deadline forfeits the seat.

What is the COMEDK 2026 result date and how do I check it?

The provisional answer keys were published on 16 May 2026 with objections to 18 May, the final keys on 23 May, and the result as rank cards on 29 May 2026, downloaded from the candidate login on comedk.org with the application number and password. The rank card carries the test score, the COMEDK rank and, for Uni-GAUGE applicants, the Uni-GAUGE score.

Are there free COMEDK mock tests?

Yes. The free COMEDK mock tests here follow the 2026 pattern — 180 questions, 60 per subject, three hours, one mark each with no deduction — and report the score by subject and an estimated rank band. COMEDK’s own mock test on comedk.org shows the exact interface.
