Online UCAT Coaching in India and the UCAT Guide 2026

Looking for online UCAT coaching in India? Know the test first, then judge any course against it. The UCAT is the admissions test for medicine and dentistry at a consortium of UK universities and a handful of partner schools abroad, among them the Lee Kong Chian and Yong Loo Lin medical schools in Singapore. It is a two-hour computer test of mental aptitude rather than science — verbal reasoning, decision making, quantitative reasoning and situational judgement — sat once in a summer testing window at Pearson VUE centres in the UK and more than 130 countries, India included, and its result is valid for the single admissions cycle that follows.

The 2026 cycle runs from registration on 20 May through booking from 23 June, testing from 13 July to 24 September, and delivery of results to universities in early November, ahead of the 15 October UCAS deadline for medicine and dentistry that candidates must meet separately. The cognitive subtests are scaled to 300–900 each for a total of 900–2700, and the Situational Judgement Test is reported as a band from 1 to 4; universities use the result in different ways, from a cut-off to a weighted component, and publish how.

Overview

What UCAT is, and who it suits

Verbal Reasoning presents eleven passages with four questions each and asks whether a statement follows from the text; Decision Making mixes logic puzzles, argument evaluation, probability and statistical reasoning, some answered as five yes-or-no statements; Quantitative Reasoning tests problem solving from charts and tables with an on-screen calculator; and Situational Judgement presents scenarios from clinical and student life and asks how appropriate or important each response is, scored against a panel of experts.

Each subtest is preceded by a timed instruction section, the test cannot be paused, and the standard version is just under two hours. Raw marks in the three cognitive subtests are converted to scaled scores from 300 to 900 so that they can be compared, and the sum gives a total from 900 to 2700; Decision Making awards two marks for a fully correct multiple-statement question and one for a partly correct one. The Situational Judgement band is reported alongside, and some universities screen on it.

What makes the UCAT distinctive

  • Aptitude, not curriculum — no biology or chemistry is tested; the questions reward fast, careful reasoning under severe time pressure.
  • One sitting per cycle — a candidate may sit the test once between July and September and may not sit both the UCAT and the UCAT ANZ in the same year.
  • A result you see before you apply — the score report is issued at the centre and in the account within about 24 hours, so UCAS choices can be made with it.
  • Results sent by the consortium — UCAT delivers results directly to the universities named on the UCAS form after the 15 October deadline; candidates do not report their own.

Which test — UCAT or UCAT ANZ

Applicants to medicine and dentistry in Australia or New Zealand sit the UCAT ANZ, an identical test on the ANZ consortium’s earlier timetable; applicants to UK universities and to the Singapore partner schools sit the UCAT. Candidates applying to both must sit the UCAT ANZ and ask for the result to be delivered to their UK choices through the results-collection form by 22 October. Sitting both in one year is treated as misconduct.

Online UCAT coaching

Online UCAT coaching for Indian applicants: what it must include

The UCAT is a two-hour aptitude test sat once a year in a July–September window, and Indian applicants to UK and Singapore medical schools sit it at Pearson VUE centres here. It cannot be revised for — there is no syllabus — so online UCAT coaching is a matter of technique and pace: a method for each of the four subtests, drilled against the real per-question clock, with full timed mocks in the last weeks.

What online UCAT coaching has to deliver

  • A technique per subtest — keyword scanning for Verbal Reasoning, a triage rule for Decision Making, fast data location for Quantitative Reasoning, and the professional-standards logic for Situational Judgement.
  • Timed practice from the first week — 30 seconds a question in Verbal Reasoning, about a minute in Decision Making, 43 seconds in Quantitative Reasoning, 22 seconds in Situational Judgement; untimed practice teaches the wrong skill.
  • Full mocks on the official interface — the consortium’s free practice tests in the live format, sat in one two-hour block without a pause.
  • The calendar — registration in May, booking from June, testing 13 July to 24 September 2026, results to universities in November, and a UCAS deadline of 15 October; coaching should plan the summer around it.
Batch or one-to-one
Technique transfers well in a batch; the Situational Judgement band and a personal pacing plan benefit from individual review. Brolly Academy offers classroom, online and one-to-one UCAT options with a free demo.
How the trainer knows the test
Ask for the trainer’s own subtest scores and for the number of candidates prepared; the consortium publishes deciles each September, so a claimed result can be placed.
What a fair course costs
The consortium says paid preparation is unnecessary and its own material is free and complete; coaching adds structure, pacing discipline and accountability. Pay for timed, analysed practice and technique, not for question banks the consortium already provides.
Free first
The UCAT syllabus, exam-pattern, practice, mock-test, preparation and study-material pages here, and the consortium’s tutorials, question banks and practice tests, are free.

What Brolly gives you free, and where coaching starts

This guide and its six sub-pages are free, and the UCAT Consortium’s official preparation is free and complete. Brolly Academy runs UCAT coaching in India — classroom in Hyderabad, online across the country, and one-to-one — with full-length timed mocks and a free demo class; its UCAT page carries the current batches.

Eligibility

Who can apply for UCAT

Who can sit the UCAT, and what the consortium checks.
ConditionRule
Who must sit itApplicants to medicine and dentistry at UCAT Consortium universities and partner schools for 2027 entry or deferred 2028 entry; the same test is required of UK, EU and international applicants.
Age and qualificationNo minimum age; candidates are normally in their final two years of school or graduates.
Identity documentOne form of permitted photo ID meeting the Test Centre Photo ID Policy and accepted in the country of testing; a valid passport is the safe choice in India. Without it a candidate cannot test and loses the fee.
One sittingOnce per test cycle; the 2026 result is valid only for the 2027 admissions cycle. Sitting both the UCAT and the UCAT ANZ in the same year is misconduct.
Not eligibleAnyone affiliated with a UCAT coaching business as a tutor, content developer or with a financial interest.
Access arrangements and bursaryExtended-time versions and rest breaks on application with evidence by 10 September 2026; a bursary for UK candidates on certain benefits, applied for before booking.

Procedure

How to register and book the UCAT from India, what happens at the Pearson VUE centre, and how results reach universities

Registration and booking run through a UCAT account; the test is delivered by Pearson VUE; results go to universities from the UCAT Office.

From account to results

  1. Create a UCAT account from 20 May 2026 New and returning candidates alike; check the details, agree to the testing policies and register. Registration only signals an intention to sit; booking is separate.
  2. Apply for arrangements or a bursary first Access arrangements must be approved before booking so that the right test version is booked; the bursary waives the fee at checkout for eligible UK candidates.
  3. Book from 23 June 2026 Choose a Pearson VUE centre in India and a slot in the 13 July to 24 September window and pay £115 by card. July and August are recommended; September fills, and a late date leaves no room to reschedule. The booking deadline is 16 September at 15:00 UK time.
  4. Prepare with the official material The tour tutorial, question tutorials, question banks and timed practice tests on the consortium site are free and complete.
  5. Test day Arrive 15 minutes early; check-in verifies the photo ID and takes a photograph, and you sign the test rules. The test cannot be paused, so breaks between subtests are the only way to leave the room without losing time; an on-screen calculator and a whiteboard are provided.
  6. Results A printed score report on leaving the centre and the scores in the UCAT account within about 24 hours; preliminary deciles in mid-September and final statistics after the window.
  7. Delivery to universities Apply through UCAS by 15 October 2026 naming your medicine and dentistry choices; after the deadline the UCAT Office matches candidates to applications and delivers results to UK universities in early November. Partner universities receive results through the account or on request; results go only to consortium and partner institutions.
  8. If the result disappoints There is no resit in the cycle; use the published deciles and each university’s stated use of the score to choose where a realistic application lies.
Fees and rules, from the consortium.

Scoring
One mark per correct answer, two for a fully correct Decision Making multiple-statement item and one for a partly correct one, partial credit for near answers in Situational Judgement, no deduction for wrong answers. Cognitive raw marks are scaled to 300–900 so subtests with different question counts can be compared, giving a total of 900–2700. Situational Judgement is reported as Band 1 to 4 against an expert panel.
How universities use it
Some rank all applicants by total score, some set a cut-off that varies with the year’s cohort, some weight the score with predicted grades and the personal statement, and some screen on the band. Each publishes its method, and the consortium collects them on its How Universities Use the UCAT page.

Placing a score

The mean total has sat around 2500 in recent cycles, and the consortium publishes deciles and percentiles each year — preliminary figures in mid-September and final ones after the window closes — on its Test Statistics page. A score is judged against that year’s cohort and against each university’s published use of it; Band 1 or 2 in Situational Judgement satisfies most universities, and several reject Band 4 outright.

Study plan

How to prepare for UCAT

An eight-week summer plan

  1. Week 1 — tour and tutorials The tour tutorial for the tools, then a question tutorial for each subtest, untimed; one official practice test cold at the end of the week.
  2. Weeks 2–3 — technique per subtest Keyword scanning and the cannot-tell logic for Verbal Reasoning; a triage rule for Decision Making puzzles; data location and mental arithmetic for Quantitative Reasoning; the professional-standards logic behind Situational Judgement.
  3. Weeks 3–6 — timed question banks Daily blocks at the real per-question pace — 30, 60, 43 and 22 seconds — with a rule for leaving a question and guessing.
  4. Weeks 5 and 7 — full official practice tests Two hours without a pause, subtests in order; compare with the published deciles.
  5. Week 8 — sit A July or August date booked well ahead; arrive 15 minutes early with the passport, and read the score report the same day.

Questions

UCAT — FAQs

What is the UCAT exam pattern?

Four separately timed multiple-choice subtests in just under two hours at a Pearson VUE centre: Verbal Reasoning with 44 questions in 22 minutes, Decision Making with 35 in 37, Quantitative Reasoning with 36 in 26 and Situational Judgement with 69 in 26, each preceded by a short instruction screen. The three cognitive subtests are scaled 300–900 for a total of 900–2700; Situational Judgement is reported as a band from 1 to 4. There is no negative marking.

When is the UCAT 2026 and what are the deadlines?

Registration opened on 20 May 2026 and booking on 23 June. Testing runs from 13 July to 24 September, the booking deadline is 16 September at 15:00 UK time, and results go to universities in early November. The UCAS deadline for medicine and dentistry is 15 October 2026.

Can I take the UCAT in India and what does it cost?

Yes. The UCAT is delivered at Pearson VUE centres in more than 130 countries including India, during the same window and under the same rules, at the non-UK fee of £115; the UK fee is £70. Candidates far from a centre can apply for online proctored testing through OnVUE before booking.

What is a good UCAT score?

The consortium publishes preliminary mean scores and deciles in mid-September and final statistics after the window. Universities use the score differently — as a ranking, a cut-off or a weighted component — and publish their approach, so a good score is one that meets the published use at your chosen universities. Some also screen on the Situational Judgement band.

How long is a UCAT result valid and can I resit?

A UCAT 2026 result is valid only for the 2027 admissions cycle, including deferred entry to 2028. The test may be sat once per cycle, and a candidate may not sit both the UCAT and the UCAT ANZ in the same year; a candidate applying next year sits the test again.

Do I need to send my UCAT score to universities?

No. After the 15 October UCAS deadline the UCAT Office matches candidates to their applications and delivers results directly to UK consortium universities in early November; universities accept only results provided this way. Partner universities abroad receive results through the account or on request.

Is online UCAT coaching available in India?

Yes. Brolly Academy runs UCAT coaching for Indian applicants in the classroom in Hyderabad and online across the country, with one-to-one tutoring, full-length timed mocks and a free demo class. The consortium’s own preparation material is free and complete; coaching adds technique, pacing discipline and a plan around the July–September testing window.

What should online UCAT coaching cover?

A technique for each of the four subtests — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement — timed practice at the real per-question pace from the start, full two-hour mocks on the official interface, analysis against the published deciles, and the 2026 calendar: registration from 20 May, booking from 23 June, testing 13 July to 24 September, results to universities in early November.

How do I book the UCAT from India?

Create a UCAT account from 20 May 2026, register, apply for any access arrangements or bursary first, then from 23 June book a Pearson VUE centre in India and a slot in the 13 July to 24 September window, paying £115 by card. Book July or August if you can; the booking deadline is 16 September at 15:00 UK time and September slots run short.

What happens on UCAT test day?

Arrive 15 minutes early with your permitted photo ID — a passport in India. Check-in verifies the ID, takes your photograph and has you sign the test rules. The test runs just under two hours and cannot be paused, so leave the room only between subtests; an on-screen calculator and a whiteboard are provided. A score report is printed as you leave and the scores appear in your account within about 24 hours.

Can I reschedule or cancel a UCAT booking?

Yes, through your account up to 24 hours before the appointment: rescheduling is free and cancellation refunds the full fee. Inside 24 hours or after a missed test the fee is lost, and a new booking is possible only once the missed appointment shows as a no-show, at the full fee again.

How does my UCAT score reach universities?

You apply through UCAS by 15 October 2026; after that the UCAT Office matches you to your medicine and dentistry choices and delivers the result to UK consortium universities in early November. Universities accept results only from the UCAT Office, and partner universities abroad receive them through the account or on request.
