Duolingo English Test — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine

  1. Set the room up as for the real test Empty desk, door closed, no headphones, phone mounted to show the screen and desk, and no one else present. Practise under these conditions so that they feel ordinary.
  2. Take the official practice test in one sitting About 45 minutes without stopping, eyes on the screen throughout.
  3. Time the speaking answers Fill the 35-second Interactive Speaking windows and the one-to-three-minute Speaking Sample with structured, continuous speech.
  4. Check the estimate against subscore minimums A university that asks for 120 overall and 105 in each subscore rejects an uneven 125.
  5. Space the certified attempts A result takes two days and a new test cannot start before it; three purchases in 30 days is the cap.
