SBI Clerk — Using mock tests as a measurement

Track your floor rather than your ceiling. A cutoff is a threshold, and a candidate who scores consistently a little above it will clear more reliably than one who alternates between excellent and mediocre. Consistency in this exam comes from accuracy discipline — knowing which questions to leave — far more than from raw knowledge.

What to review after each mock

  • Seconds per simplification question — the most directly improvable number in the paper.
  • Accuracy versus attempts in each section — under negative marking, over-attempting is a common silent loss.
  • Financial awareness score trend — it should rise steadily; if it is flat, your source or your revision rhythm needs changing.
  • Your lowest score across the last five mocks — that is the number the cutoff will meet on a bad day.

A weekly mock routine

  1. Two sectionally timed prelims mocks Twenty minutes per section, strictly. The whole difficulty of the stage is the inability to borrow time, and a mock that permits it teaches the wrong habit.
  2. One full mains mock In the published section order and timings, on a screen, with a rough sheet. Two and a half hours in one sitting, because that is what stamina practice requires.
  3. Daily calculation drilling regardless Fifteen minutes, every day, independent of whether a mock is scheduled. This is the component that improves fastest and decays fastest.
  4. A weekly review of your floor The lowest of your last five scores. Working to raise that number is less satisfying than chasing a personal best and considerably more predictive of your result.

Track your financial awareness score as a separate trend line rather than folding it into the total. It should climb steadily from week to week, because the section is cumulative and responds directly to daily contact with a source. If that line is flat over a month, the problem is diagnosable and specific: either your source is not being read consistently, or you are reading without revising, and the fix differs in each case.

Two clerical exams, one mock schedule

If you are sitting both SBI Clerk and IBPS Clerk, alternate the mock formats within a single schedule rather than running two. The underlying skills are the same and the section timings differ only slightly; what alternating adds is exposure to two framings, which is useful for the SBI paper specifically.
