Written mocks are useful, but for this recruitment your training log matters at least as much as your mock scores.

Practice

Agniveer — Using mock tests as a measurement

For most Agniveer candidates the written test is the least uncertain part of the process. Practise it enough to be comfortable and accurate under time, then spend the remaining effort on the two stages that eliminate more people — physical fitness, which improves only with months of consistent training, and the medical standards, which need checking rather than training.

A balanced weekly routine

  • Two timed written practice sessions — in your category’s format, with negative marking applied if it applies.
  • Running on most days — building distance and pace gradually towards the prescribed standard with margin to spare.
  • Strength work for the required events — pull-ups and similar, built progressively rather than attempted at maximum from the start.
  • Daily general knowledge and science revision — short sessions; both are recall-heavy and respond to frequency.

A weekly routine across both tracks

  1. Two timed written sessions In your own category’s format, with negative marking applied where it applies. Enough to keep the material sharp without letting written practice crowd out the training.
  2. Running on most days Building distance and pace gradually towards the prescribed standard, with margin to spare rather than exactly meeting it.
  3. Progressive strength work Pull-ups and the other required events, built up over months rather than attempted at maximum effort each session. Progressive loading is what produces a reliable result on the day.
  4. Daily general knowledge and science revision Short sessions, since both are recall-heavy and respond to frequency rather than duration.
  5. A training log kept alongside the study plan Written down, week by week. It is the record that shows whether the physical track is actually progressing.

The unusual advice for this recruitment is to treat your training log as at least as important as your mock scores. For most candidates the written test is the least uncertain part of the process — practise it until it is comfortable and then maintain it — while the physical stage is where preparation genuinely determines the outcome and where progress is only visible if it is recorded.

Train with margin, not to the standard

A candidate who can just meet the running time in training will frequently miss it at the rally, where nerves, terrain and fatigue all work against them. Building to comfortably inside the standard is the difference between a result that depends on the day and one that does not.

Balancing written practice against physical preparation.
What you seeWhat it meansWhat to change
Written scores fine, training irregularThe most common way this recruitment is lost.Fixed weekly training schedule, kept in the same calendar as the study plan.
Science below halfThe school syllabus sampled rather than finished.Work through it chapter by chapter.
Mathematics slowCalculation speed.Daily drill; the level of the mathematics is not the problem.
Entry-specific content untouchedA general preparation for a specific entry.Read the syllabus for your own entry and prepare to that.
Training to the exact standardNo margin on the day, when conditions are worse than in practice.Train above the prescribed figure so the standard is comfortable.
