Syllabus

Bihar Technical and Departmental Posts — What the syllabus covers

General English and general Hindi — 100 each, qualifying: Grammar, vocabulary and comprehension; 30 to pass.
General studies — 100: India and Bihar: history, geography, polity, economy, science and current events.
General engineering science — 100: Engineering mathematics, mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, electrical fundamentals and computing common to the disciplines.
Discipline papers I and II — 100 each: Civil: structures, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, environmental and construction. Mechanical: thermal, design, manufacturing and fluids. Electrical: machines, power systems, control and electronics. At degree level.
BTSC junior engineer — 100: The state board of technical education’s three-year diploma curriculum in the discipline, as the commission’s syllabus of 3 February 2026 sets it.
