Overview
What Maharashtra Technical Posts is, and who it suits
The commission’s route runs through the Maharashtra Civil Services Gazetted Combined Preliminary Examination, which in the 2025 cycle — Advt 012/2025 of 18 March 2025 — screened for the State Services, the forest service and 114 civil engineering posts of the public works department together, on the two-paper preliminary described on the Rajyaseva page. Postponed from 28 September to 9 November 2025 for floods, its civil engineering result of 4 March 2026 qualified about 4,500 candidates for the Maharashtra Civil Engineering Services Main Examination 2025, notified as Advt 003/2026 on 13 March with applications to 30 March and the papers on 16 May 2026 at six centres. The mains posts are reported as 28 assistant executive engineers in Group A, 86 assistant engineers Grade 1 in Group A and 182 assistant engineers Grade 2 in Group B.
The Jeevan Pradhikaran’s round shows the board route in full. Its advertisement 1/2025 of 4 November 2025 offered 144 junior engineers civil and 16 mechanical in Group B at ₹38,600 to ₹1,22,800, and 48 civil engineering assistants in Group C at ₹25,500 to ₹81,100, among eleven cadres, with applications from 20 November to 19 December 2025 through IBPS at ₹1,000, or ₹900 for reserved categories. The paper was 100 questions and 200 marks in 120 minutes — Marathi 10, English 10, general knowledge 15, intelligence 15 and the technical subject 50 at diploma level — online, normalised, with a quarter of the marks off per wrong answer and 45 per cent to enter the merit list. Examined on 28 February and 2 and 5 March 2026, it published the mechanical and assistant results on 10 June and was still awaiting the civil junior engineer result from IBPS on 31 July.
Where else engineers are recruited
- Mechanical engineering services — the 2022 deputy engineer advertisement 102/2022 is still in process — a corrigendum of 10 December 2025 on SEBC and OBC reservation and one of 7 August 2026 revising the posts, taking fresh SBC applications and postponing the screening test. No newer mechanical cycle is on the list.
- Electrical engineering services — the 2025 preliminary was held and its result declared before April 2026, and the mains notified on 17 April as Advt 012/2026; the BARTI scheme is funding SC candidates’ mains preparation.
- Zilla parishads — junior engineers civil for works and rural water supply, and civil engineering assistants, in the 2023 rural development round of about 19,000 posts; no 2025 or 2026 round.
- Public works and water resources departments — their direct junior engineer rounds — 2023 for both — have no successor advertised; the public works site was down at the date checked.
The scheme of the commission’s engineering examinations
The commission publishes the scheme of its gazetted technical services examinations on its site, and the documents were not readable at the date checked. Accounts of the scheme describe a 200-mark preliminary of 100 questions in an hour, a mains of two papers of 200 in two hours each, a quarter-mark deduction per wrong answer and an interview of 50 marks; the interview figure conflicts across sources and none of it is quoted here as the commission’s text. A candidate should read the scheme document linked from the advertisement.
