AP EAPCET — What the syllabus covers

Mathematics (Engineering stream)
Algebra covering functions, mathematical induction, matrices, complex numbers, quadratic expressions, theory of equations, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem and partial fractions; trigonometry covering ratios, transformations, inverse functions, hyperbolic functions and properties of triangles; vector algebra; probability and statistics; and coordinate geometry covering the locus, transformation of axes, straight lines, pairs of lines, circles, conic sections, three-dimensional coordinates, direction cosines, planes and calculus including limits, differentiation, applications of derivatives, integration and differential equations. Eighty questions — half the paper.
Physics
Physical world and measurement, kinematics, laws of motion, work energy and power, systems of particles and rotational motion, oscillations, gravitation, mechanical properties of solids and fluids, thermal properties, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, waves, ray and wave optics, electric charges and fields, current electricity, moving charges and magnetism, magnetism and matter, electromagnetic induction, alternating current, electromagnetic waves, dual nature of radiation and matter, atoms and nuclei, semiconductor electronics and communication systems.
Chemistry
Atomic structure, classification of elements and periodicity, chemical bonding and molecular structure, states of matter, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium and acids and bases, hydrogen and its compounds, s-block and p-block elements, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry basic principles and hydrocarbons, solid state, solutions, electrochemistry and chemical kinetics, surface chemistry, general principles of metallurgy, d- and f-block elements, coordination compounds, haloalkanes and haloarenes, organic compounds containing oxygen and nitrogen, polymers, biomolecules and chemistry in everyday life.
Botany and Zoology (Agriculture and Pharmacy stream)
Botany covering diversity in the living world, structural organisation in plants, reproduction in plants, plant systematics, cell structure and function, internal organisation of plants, plant ecology, plant physiology, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology. Zoology covering diversity of living world, structural organisation in animals, animal diversity, locomotion and reproduction in protozoa, biology in human welfare, type study of periplaneta americana, ecology and environment, human anatomy and physiology, human reproduction, genetics, organic evolution and applied biology.

A candidate preparing simultaneously for JEE Main should be aware that the intermediate syllabus includes topics presented differently — hyperbolic functions and partial fractions in mathematics, for instance — and organises some material in a different sequence. Working from the state intermediate textbooks rather than only from JEE material closes that gap.

Read the syllabus alongside your intermediate textbook contents page

The two are close enough that the most efficient way to use the syllabus is as a checklist against the books you already own, marking what the entrance adds and what your course covers more thoroughly than the paper requires. That comparison takes an afternoon and replaces a great deal of second-hand advice about what to study.
