RRB Group D Mock Tests

With ninety minutes for a hundred questions, this is one of the few competitive papers where you can afford to think. Use mocks to build accuracy rather than raw speed.

RRB Group D — Using mock tests as a measurement

The most common way to lose marks in Group D is not running out of time — it is answering questions you were not sure about. With a third of a mark deducted per error and enough time available to check your work, the profile that scores best is a high-accuracy one with a disciplined number of skips. That is a habit, and mocks are where it is built.

What to track

  • Your error count, explicitly — each error costs a third of a mark on top of the mark not earned. Twelve errors is a four-mark penalty.
  • Time left at the end — if you finish with twenty minutes spare and still made avoidable errors, you rushed unnecessarily.
  • Science accuracy by chapter — a finite syllabus means every weak chapter is fixable.
  • Reasoning speed — the largest section, and the one where practice volume pays most directly.

Keep physical training running alongside. The physical efficiency test follows the written result, and the interval is not reliably long enough to build carrying strength and running fitness from a standing start.

A mock routine for a forgiving clock and a harsh deduction

  1. Sit the full ninety minutes Do not finish early to prove you can. The time is there to be used, and using it for verification is the whole technique for this paper.
  2. Count errors before reading the score At a third of a mark each they are the expensive item, and the score presents them combined with everything else.
  3. Split errors into knowledge and haste A question you did not know is a study finding. A question you knew and misread is a behaviour finding, and it is the cheaper one to fix.
  4. Track science accuracy by chapter A finite syllabus means every recurring weakness is closeable, and chapter-level tracking is what makes them visible.
  5. Note reasoning speed separately The largest section, and the one where practice volume converts most directly into marks.

The characteristic Group D leak is answering questions you were not sure about, in a paper that gave you enough time to work out that you were not sure. It is a habit imported from tighter examinations, where filling the paper is often correct. Here, with nearly a minute a question and three errors cancelling a right answer, the same instinct quietly removes marks a more patient candidate keeps.

Keep the physical training on the same calendar

The physical efficiency test follows the written result, and the interval is not long enough to build fitness or grip strength from a standing start. Three sessions a week — running plus the carrying task — alongside mock practice costs little study time and protects the stage where written preparation counts for nothing.

What a Group D practice result points at.
ObservationInterpretationAction
Time left over, score modestThe clock is forgiving; accuracy under the deduction is the binding constraint.Use spare minutes to recheck rather than to attempt blind guesses.
Science below halfThe class 10 syllabus has been sampled rather than finished.Work through it chapter by chapter and revisit each chapter twice.
Arithmetic slips on simple questionsCalculation, not method.Daily drill on paper; the slip rate falls within weeks.
Reasoning inconsistent between mocksSome families drilled and others never met.List the families and work each to fluency in turn.
Physical training off the calendarThe most common way candidates lose this recruitment after clearing the paper.Fixed weekly schedule, trained above the standard, never paused for mock season.
