Karnataka Police — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine by post

  1. Constable — 100 questions in 90 minutes General studies and mental ability, in the medium you will write in. Mark the fifth bubble on every question you skip; then score at −0.25 for wrong and for blank, and watch whether the 30-mark floor and the one-in-five cut are within reach.
  2. Sub-inspector Paper 1 — 90 minutes by hand An essay under 600 words, a précis and two translations in one sitting. The translations between Kannada and English are the part most candidates leave to the end.
  3. Sub-inspector Paper 2 — 100 questions at 1.5 Score at −0.375 per wrong answer. The two paper totals are added; a strong Paper 1 is worth as much as a third of Paper 2.
  4. The endurance test 1,600 metres in 6 minutes 30 seconds for constable men, 7 minutes for sub-inspector men; 400 metres in 2 minutes for women, or 1 minute 30 for KSRP women. Train it as seriously as the paper — it carries no marks but ends the candidacy.
