When is the UPSSSC PET 2026 exam?
On 23, 24 and 25 October 2026, in two shifts a day — 10 to 12 and 3 to 5 — by the commission’s schedule notice of 9 September 2026. Applications under advertisement 16-Exam/2026 ran from 3 August to 7 September after an extension, with corrections to 8 September. Admit cards and exam districts follow.
What is the UPSSSC PET exam pattern?
One OMR paper of 100 questions and 100 marks in two hours, across fifteen heads — Indian history, the national movement, geography, the economy, the Constitution and administration, general science, arithmetic, Hindi, English and reasoning at five marks each; current affairs and general awareness at ten each; and two Hindi passages, two graphs and two tables at ten each. A quarter mark is deducted per wrong answer, and scores are normalised across shifts.
How long is the UPSSSC PET score valid?
Three years from the date the result is uploaded, under the government order of 28 April 2025 that also made the test annual. Before that the score was valid for one year — PET 2023’s scores of January 2024 expired in January 2025. Where a candidate holds more than one valid score, the highest is used.
What is the PET cut-off?
There is no pass mark. For each mains the commission shortlists fifteen candidates per post in each category on the normalised PET score, including everyone tied at the cut-off to two decimals. The lekhpal mains of 2026 cut at 55.12 for the unreserved, SC, OBC and EWS categories and 47.50 for ST, with 3,66,712 shortlisted for 7,994 posts. A zero or negative score is never shortlisted.
Who can sit the UPSSSC PET?
Anyone who has passed high school or an equivalent by the closing date and is 18 to 40 on 1 July of the year — 1 July 2026 for PET 2026 — with the usual relaxations for SC, ST and OBC candidates, sportspersons, ex-servicemen, PwD and state employees. One-time registration on the commission’s portal is required first. Age is reckoned again under each department’s rules at the mains.
What is the UPSSSC PET fee?
₹185 for unreserved and OBC candidates, ₹95 for SC and ST, and ₹25 for PwD — each including a ₹25 processing fee. Women, freedom fighters’ dependants, ex-servicemen and sportspersons pay by their original category. Each mains that follows costs ₹25 to apply for, with the mains examination fee charged only to the shortlisted.
Which exams need a PET score?
Every Group C post the commission advertises — under the two-tier order of 20 November 2020, only PET candidates with a score card may apply for a mains. The 2026 mains on PET 2025 numbered twenty-one: lekhpal, pharmacist, assistant statistical officer, lower subordinate services, excise constable, forest guard, cane supervisor, auditor and assistant accountant, livestock extension officer, veterinary pharmacist, junior engineer agriculture and computer operator among them.
Was there a PET in 2024?
No. The commission held PET 2023 on 28 and 29 October 2023 and PET 2025 on 6 and 7 September 2025; the mains advertised in 2024 and early 2025, such as the junior assistant round of 2,702 posts, drew on PET 2023. From 2025 the test is annual.
