LNAT — How to prepare

From choosing universities to results

  1. List the universities and their deadlines The earliest deadline among your choices is your test deadline — 15 October for Oxford or Cambridge, 31 December for King’s, the LSE and UCL, mid-to-late January for the rest.
  2. Register from 1 August and book early Centres in India offer limited slots; a booking in August or September for a date well before the deadline avoids the scramble.
  3. Read argument daily One opinion piece a day, asking what it claims, what it assumes and what would undermine it; note the answers in a sentence each.
  4. Write a 40-minute essay weekly On a contested public question, to a conclusion, in about 550 words, and have it read.
  5. Do the official practice tests in the last month Timed, both sections, at the same time of day as the booked slot.
  6. Apply without waiting for the score Candidates do not see the result before the UCAS deadline; universities do. Make the choices on the strength of the whole application.

Indian applicants and Jindal Global Law School

O.P. Jindal Global Law School lists the LNAT among its admission routes, which makes the test relevant to some candidates who are not applying to the UK at all. Check the school’s own page for the cycle, deadline and how the score is used; the consortium refers such conditions to the university.
