PTE Academic — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine

  1. Learn the microphone rhythm first Speak immediately after the tone, keep going, and finish before the countdown ends; a pause of a few seconds closes the recording. Practise every speaking type until this is automatic.
  2. Sit the three parts together About two hours without a break, in the order the test uses, so that the listening section is met tired, as it will be on the day.
  3. Read the trait scores, not just the total A speaking score of 60 with fluency at 45 and pronunciation at 75 has one remedy; the reverse has another.
  4. Track negative-scoring items separately Multiple-answer questions and Highlight Incorrect Words punish over-selection. Score them alone and adjust how readily you click.
  5. Time the summaries and the essay Ten minutes for each summary and twenty for the essay, with the word counts checked before submitting — 5–75, 50–70 and 200–300.
