UCAT — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine

  1. Sit one official test cold Before preparation, to find the subtest that costs most; the spread between subtests is usually wide.
  2. Practise to the clock, not to completion Most candidates cannot finish Verbal Reasoning; the skill is deciding what to leave and guessing the rest, since nothing is deducted.
  3. Sit full tests in order without a break The live test cannot be paused, and Situational Judgement comes last, when attention is lowest.
  4. Score every subtest against the deciles A 2600 total is rare; a mid-decile score with a Band 2 satisfies many universities. Check each target’s published use of the score.
  5. Stop new material a week before the test The final week is for pace and for the test tools, not for new question types.
