UCAT — How to prepare

From registration to results

  1. Confirm which universities require it Check each course’s entry requirements; alternative requirements apply to some applicants, and partner universities have their own rules and deadlines.
  2. Register in May and book in June Slots at Indian Pearson VUE centres are limited and the popular late-August dates go first; the booking deadline is 16 September, but an early booking secures the centre and date wanted.
  3. Choose a date you can prepare for The test is the same difficulty throughout the window. July suits candidates still in exam habit; September gives the summer to prepare.
  4. Learn a technique per subtest Keyword scanning for Verbal Reasoning, a triage rule for Decision Making puzzles, quick data location for Quantitative Reasoning, and the professional-standards logic for Situational Judgement.
  5. Work timed every day Short daily blocks under the real per-question pace beat long untimed sessions; accuracy under time is the whole skill.
  6. Use the result in the UCAS choices The score arrives before 15 October; apply where the published use of the score gives a realistic chance rather than wasting a choice.

Sitting the UCAT from India

The UCAT is delivered at Pearson VUE centres in Indian cities during the same July–September window, at the £115 non-UK fee, and results are handled exactly as for UK candidates. If no centre is reachable, OnVUE online proctored testing can be requested before booking. Photo ID rules are strict; a passport is the safest document.
