Tamil Nadu Teaching Posts Syllabus

Two syllabuses that overlap but are not the same. The eligibility test asks whether you can teach; the recruitment test asks how well you know the subject at the level of the post.

Syllabus

Tamil Nadu Teaching Posts — What the syllabus covers

TNTET — child development and pedagogy
Thirty questions in each paper: development, learning and its theories, the diverse learner, inclusive education, assessment. The part of the test national material covers well.
TNTET — languages
Language I in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada or Urdu, and Language II English, thirty questions each: comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and the pedagogy of the language.
TNTET Paper I — mathematics and environmental studies
Thirty questions each on the classes I to V curriculum, content and pedagogy.
TNTET Paper II — the stream
Sixty questions on mathematics and science or on social science, on the classes VI to VIII curriculum, content and pedagogy.
Recruitment — Part A, Tamil
Thirty questions of tenth-standard Tamil in thirty minutes for fifty marks: grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, literature. Qualifying at 40 per cent.
Recruitment — Part B, by post
SGT: Tamil, English, mathematics, science and social science at tenth standard, thirty each. BT Assistant: the undergraduate syllabus of the subject. PG Assistant: the postgraduate syllabus of the subject for 110 marks, educational methodology 30, general knowledge 10.
