Telangana Technical Posts — How to prepare
A five-month plan
- Month one — rebuild the core subject map List every subject in the discipline, mark each as solid, rusty or gone, and plan from that rather than from a generic schedule.
- Months one to four — core subjects in rotation Two subjects at a time, with a formula sheet built for each as you go. Numerical practice from the start rather than after revision.
- Months two to five — general studies, in daily blocks Short sessions on polity, economy, geography and science, with the Telangana content given its own weekly slot.
- Throughout — current affairs, fifteen minutes a day National and Telangana together. It is a small, reliable block in the general studies paper.
- Month five — simulations and formula recall Full papers to time, and weekly rewriting of the formula sheets from memory.
A working engineer has an advantage that is easy to waste: practical familiarity with a part of the syllabus, usually the part their job touches. That familiarity does not extend to the subjects they have not used since graduation, and those are where the marks are lost. Audit honestly before allocating time.
Check the discipline requirement before applying
These recruitments prescribe a degree in a named discipline, and verification checks it exactly. A related or interdisciplinary degree may or may not qualify, and the answer is in the notification rather than in general advice. Settle it before you spend months preparing.
- The formula sheet
- One page per subject, written by hand, rewritten from memory weekly. It is the central artefact of technical preparation and the thing most candidates postpone until the last month, when it is worth least.
- The weight table
- Built from past papers, ranking chapters by how often they are examined. It decides revision order, and it prevents the natural drift towards revising what is enjoyable.
- The slow half
- General studies, current affairs and the Telangana layer, accumulated daily from the first week. It cannot be compressed into the final month, and attempting to is the usual reason a strong engineer misses a cutoff.
One organisational point specific to these recruitments: technical notifications are issued per department and per discipline, and their eligibility clauses are narrower than the general Group notifications. The degree, the branch, and sometimes the specialisation are all specified. Check the clause for the post you intend to apply to before building a preparation plan around it, because an eligibility mismatch discovered at verification cannot be corrected.
