CTET Mock Tests

Practise with every question attempted. In a paper with no deduction, a blank is simply a discarded mark.

CTET — Using mock tests as a measurement

The free CTET mock on this site follows the current pattern for 150 questions in two and a half hours. Two things are worth watching beyond your score: whether you left anything unanswered, which you never should, and how your pedagogy accuracy compares with your content accuracy, since the two respond to entirely different preparation.

What your analysis should tell you

  • Blanks — there should be none — with no negative marking, an unanswered question is a mark thrown away.
  • Pedagogy accuracy versus content accuracy — if content is strong and pedagogy weak, more subject revision will not help.
  • Language section performance — often the most neglected sixty marks in the paper, and among the most learnable.
  • Time distribution — two and a half hours for 150 questions is comfortable; if you are rushed, you are over-deliberating.

A closing note on the language papers. Sixty of the hundred and fifty marks come from Language I and Language II combined, and they test comprehension and language pedagogy rather than literary depth. Candidates routinely under-prepare them on the assumption that language ability is fixed — it is not, and the pedagogy half is entirely learnable.

What to check after each mock

  1. Blanks — the answer is always zero No negative marking applies. A single unanswered question means the final sweep has not become automatic.
  2. Pedagogy accuracy against content accuracy Track them separately. Strong content with weak pedagogy is the classic CTET profile, and more subject revision will not fix it.
  3. Both language sections Sixty marks between them, and frequently the least prepared part of the paper. Check them independently rather than as one score.
  4. Time used Two and a half hours for a hundred and fifty questions is comfortable. If you were rushed, you were deliberating over pedagogy questions rather than reading them.

A useful habit when reviewing pedagogy errors is to write down which principle the correct answer reflected. Over a few mocks the same handful of principles will keep appearing, and the list you build becomes a short checklist you can apply to unfamiliar questions — which is exactly what the section rewards, since no amount of memorising will cover every classroom situation the examiners can invent.

Sit both papers on one day if you are taking both

Paper 1 and Paper 2 run in separate sessions on the same day, and five hours of testing is a real demand. Practising them together at least a few times before the examination rehearses the concentration the second session will need, which practising them on separate days never does.

What a CTET result is telling you.
Where marks are lostThe usual reasonThe correction
Child development and pedagogyAnswered from personal opinion about teaching rather than from the theory tested.Learn the positions as named positions; then practise choosing between two defensible options.
Two-option questions across the paperThe discrimination between a good answer and a better one.Write one line on why the better option is better, ten questions a day.
Subject contentRead at graduate depth rather than at school-syllabus level.Work through the school textbooks for the classes in your paper.
Language sectionsFluency mistaken for grammar and language pedagogy.Prepare the pedagogy of language explicitly; it is a defined block.
Accuracy falling in the second halfConcentration across a long single sitting.Sit full papers, and both papers on one day if you are taking both.
