State TET Mock Tests

CTET mocks cover the shared framework well. The state language paper and state-specific content need their own practice.

State TET — Using mock tests as a measurement

Because child development and pedagogy, subject pedagogy and the content levels are common across TETs, CTET mock practice transfers almost completely. What it cannot give you is practice in the state language paper or the state-specific general knowledge, and those together can be a substantial share of a state TET paper.

A practical practice plan

  • Use CTET mocks for pedagogy and content — the framework is shared and the practice transfers directly.
  • Practise the state language paper separately — comprehension and language pedagogy in that language, from your state’s past papers.
  • Build a state general knowledge sheet — history, geography, culture and administration of your state, revised weekly.
  • Attempt every question in practice — assuming no negative marking, once you have confirmed that for your state.

A practice routine built on shared and specific parts

  1. Use CTET mocks for pedagogy and content The framework is shared and the practice transfers directly. This covers the large majority of the paper at no additional cost.
  2. Practise the state language paper separately Comprehension and language pedagogy in that language, from your own state’s past papers. No national material substitutes for it.
  3. Revise the state general knowledge sheet weekly Short, targeted and cumulative. It takes minutes and it covers questions nothing else in your preparation touches.
  4. Confirm the attempt rule for your state Assuming no negative marking, answer everything. But confirm that assumption first, because it is the one variation that changes how you play the paper.
  5. Sit at least three full timed papers A hundred and fifty questions in about two and a half hours, in one block, including the language section you find hardest.

Track pedagogy and content accuracy separately, exactly as a CTET candidate should. The characteristic failure is identical across all these examinations — strong subject knowledge, weak pedagogical reasoning — and it is invisible in a combined score. If your content is solid and your pedagogy is not, more subject revision will not move the result.

Practise in the medium you will sit

Where the paper is offered in more than one medium, take your mocks in the one you have chosen. Reading speed under time pressure does not transfer between languages, and pedagogical terminology in translation is not always what you would predict from the English.

Practising a test that is partly shared and partly state-specific.
PatternCauseCorrection
Pedagogy fine, subject content weakPrepared from central material rather than the state syllabus.Move to your own state’s school textbooks for the classes in your paper.
Language paper weaker than expectedFluency assumed to be sufficient.Work grammar and language pedagogy in that language specifically.

Two-option losses in pedagogyPrinciples known, discrimination not practised. For each such question, write why the better option is better.
