The business environment section rewards the same daily reading habit that serves CMAT’s general awareness and XAT’s general knowledge sections. A candidate preparing for several management entrances gets this section largely for free by reading a business newspaper daily, which is a good argument for starting that habit early regardless of which test is the primary target.
The business environment section is the one that distinguishes a MAT preparation, and the useful observation is that it does not need its own study time at all if you are already reading a business newspaper for CMAT, XAT general knowledge or interview preparation. The same twenty minutes covers all of them. What it does need is that the habit exists — and for candidates preparing only for CAT, it usually does not.
Nothing here is unusually difficult
MAT sits below CAT in difficulty across all four aptitude sections and gives more time per question. The consequence is that a CAT-prepared candidate needs no additional content work, and the entire adjustment consists of data sufficiency practice, a reading habit, and resisting the urge to rush a paper that does not require it.
