NIACL AO — How to prepare

NIACL AO selects the candidate who attempts fewer questions than the field but gets them right, who has read about general insurance and its regulator for a couple of months, and who can type a coherent letter and essay in half an hour. The plan builds those in order.

A twelve-week NIACL AO preparation, assuming the August advertisement and September–October phases of 2025 recur.
PhaseWeeksWhat to do
Foundation1–4Topic drills in reasoning, quantitative and English; 20-minute sectional tests with accuracy tracking; newspaper daily.
Mains build5–8Longer puzzles and DI sets; two RCs a day; insurance and financial-sector notes; one typed letter and essay a week.
Integration9–10Alternate Phase I and Phase II mocks; current-affairs digest for six months; insurance notes revised twice a week.
Final fortnight11–12Two mocks a week; descriptive practice every other day; interview reading on New India Assurance, its products and the general-insurance market.

Priorities, in order

  • Accuracy under the quarter-mark penalty — the difference between clearing and missing Phase I.
  • General awareness with insurance — fifty mains marks, half of them on insurance and the financial sector.
  • Equal effort across the four mains sections — each is 50 marks and each has a minimum.
  • The descriptive pass — a gate, not a bonus.

The 60 per cent rule

check the degree aggregate before preparing; the company computes the percentage on all subjects and does not accept honours marks alone.
