Andhra Pradesh Police — Using mock tests as a measurement

With no penalty for a wrong answer, an unanswered question is the only way to lose a mark you could have had. A mock test for this board should end with every bubble filled, and the review afterwards should separate questions you knew from questions you guessed right — because the second group will not repeat, and the score they inflate is not the score you will get.

A routine built around the board’s structure

A timed preliminary-format paper every week For Constable, 200 questions in three hours. For Sub-Inspector, two 100-question papers back to back — because the preliminary is sat that way and stamina across six hours is part of it.
Per-paper thresholds, not a total Score each paper against its own qualifying mark. A strong aggregate that hides a weak arithmetic paper is exactly the profile the per-paper rule eliminates.
A descriptive session weekly for SI candidates One English and one Telugu or Urdu piece, timed, on the paper’s own question types. Nobody fails these papers on knowledge; they fail on never having written under a clock.
A timed run every week, logged The physical efficiency test is a test. Treat the 1600 metres as a mock with a score, and for armed posts a graded one.

Use the last cycle’s cut-off as your pass mark

The board’s published cut-offs make a generic target unnecessary. Take the selection mark for your post code, zone and category from the last cycle, add a margin for a stronger field, and treat that as the mark a mock has to reach. It is a harder standard than "above 40 per cent" and the only one that predicts anything.
