Andhra Pradesh Police Preparation

The recruitment is long, the physical test is not optional, and the paper that counts is the last one. A plan that respects those three facts is most of the preparation.

Andhra Pradesh Police — How to prepare

A twelve-month plan

  1. Months one to three — the foundation and the track Arithmetic and reasoning to SSC standard, general studies at the Constable or degree level as your post requires, and a running programme that starts wherever your fitness is. Run three times a week from the first week; the standard is reachable in months and not in weeks.
  2. Months four to six — state layer and language Andhra Pradesh history, geography, economy and administration, which national material does not cover. Sub-Inspector candidates add weekly descriptive writing in English and their chosen language.
  3. Months seven to nine — full papers under the clock Weekly timed papers in the final-examination format, scored against the last cycle’s cut-off for your zone and category. Physical work continues; armed-post candidates start timing the 100 metres and measuring the long jump.
  4. Months ten to twelve — hold and sharpen Maintenance rather than new material. The gap between notification and preliminary test has been under three months in recent cycles, and the gap after that is unpredictable — the Constable physical tests waited two years. A routine you can hold indefinitely beats a peak timed to a date that moves.

What the last cycle taught

  • Certificates decide the Stage-II window — the second application opens for a short period after the preliminary result and requires uploaded certificates. Candidates who clear the paper and miss the window are out.
  • Women candidates for Civil posts compete for a third of the vacancies — the horizontal reservation is 33⅓ per cent, and in the last Constable cycle 1,063 of 3,580 Civil posts went to women.
  • Home Guards have their own quota and their own age rule — a 15 per cent quota in Civil Constable and 25 per cent in APSP, with an upper age of 34, for those with 360 days’ duty in the preceding two years.
  • Local status is half the merit list — a non-local candidate competes only for the combined-merit share of posts — 30 per cent for Civil SI, 20 per cent for Civil Constable — which is a materially harder cut.

Confirm the structure against your own notification

APPSC revises paper structure, marks, syllabus detail and eligibility between recruitment cycles, and has done so more than once in recent years. Everything here describes the shape the recruitment has held; the notification for the cycle you are sitting is the document that decides it. Read it end to end before you plan around any figure.
