Andhra Pradesh Departmental Tests — How the paper is structured

Pass marks by test family, from Annexure III of the May 2026 notification. The general rule is 40 in each paper; the exceptions are listed.
TestQualifying rule
Accounts tests, Revenue Test, treasuries, jail, registration, local fund audit, Evidence Act, Civil Judicial Part I40 marks in each paper, each paper passable separately
Divisional Test Parts I and II; Works Accounts Service40 per cent in each paper and 45 per cent in aggregate
Criminal Judicial TestPapers I and II together and Papers III and IV together at 40 per cent; all papers to be passed at one sitting; law graduates exempt from Papers I and II
Forest officers, fire, excise, forest ministerial, Civil Judicial Part IISpecified paper pairs assessed together at 40 per cent
Descriptive language and survey papers40 marks in each paper
Special language tests, lower standardNo minimum prescribed in the written examination
Third Class Language TestViva-voce only, minimum 40

Because there is no negative marking and the answer key is not opened to objection, the objective papers reward answering every question and accepting the key. The preparation question is not how to score but which paper to sit and which family’s rule applies to it.

Confirm the structure against your own notification

APPSC revises paper structure, marks, syllabus detail and eligibility between recruitment cycles, and has done so more than once in recent years. Everything here describes the shape the recruitment has held; the notification for the cycle you are sitting is the document that decides it. Read it end to end before you plan around any figure.
