Andhra Pradesh Departmental Tests Previous Papers

The commission publishes results, keys and revised syllabi rather than a paper archive. For a paper set on an Act, the Act is the practice material.

Andhra Pradesh Departmental Tests — Reading previous papers properly

The departmental test page carries syllabi, time-tables, results and errata for each session, and the revised syllabi paper by paper. It does not carry a question-paper archive, and since the objection process on keys was dispensed with, the key itself is not published in the way a recruitment key is. For most papers the useful previous material is therefore the document the paper is set on.

How to practise without papers

  • Work the Act as a question bank — for each chapter, write the ten questions an examiner would ask — definitions, procedures, time limits, penalties — and answer them from the text under time.
  • Use the concordance for the criminal-law papers — the revised syllabus maps every old section to its replacement. Practise from the new code, checking the concordance for the sections the old paper habitually asked.
  • Practise finding, not recalling, for with-books papers — time yourself locating a given section in the bare Act. The examination is two hours, and a candidate who can find a provision in thirty seconds has time; one who searches for three minutes does not.
  • Read the errata — the commission publishes corrections to results by paper and session. They tell you which papers have had key disputes and where care is needed.
