Andhra Pradesh Teaching Posts — What the syllabus covers

APTET — child development and pedagogy
Thirty questions in every paper: development, learning and its theories, the diverse learner, assessment, inclusive education and, in Papers 1B and 2B, the pedagogy of special education. The part of the test national material covers well.
APTET — languages
Language I in Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Odia or, at Paper 2A, Sanskrit; Language II English. Thirty questions each, split 24 content and 6 pedagogy: comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and the teaching of the language.
APTET Paper 1A — mathematics and environmental studies
Thirty questions each at the classes I to V level with linkages upward, 24 content and 6 pedagogy. The syllabus is the state’s own primary curriculum.
APTET Paper 2A — the stream
Sixty questions: mathematics and science as 20 each of mathematics, physical science and biological science, each 16 content and 4 pedagogy; or social studies as 48 content and 12 pedagogy across history, geography, civics and economics; or a language as 48 and 12.
DSC — general knowledge, perspectives and psychology
Current affairs and general knowledge; perspectives in education — the history and policy of education in India and the state, the Right to Education, the National Education Policy; and the classroom implications of educational psychology. Published as a syllabus per post on the portal.
DSC — subject content and methodology
For School Assistant, the subject at graduation standard and its methodology at B.Ed standard; for Secondary Grade Teacher, all five school subjects at the primary level with their methodologies. Half the School Assistant paper and the largest block of the SGT paper.
Societies — English language proficiency
A qualifying paper at Intermediate standard for non-language posts: comprehension, grammar, usage and vocabulary. One hundred questions in ninety minutes, to be cleared at 60 or 50 by category before the main paper is marked.
