Syllabus

Bihar Teaching Recruitment — What the syllabus covers

TRE 4.0 preliminary — general studies, 150
General science; current events; the history of India and Bihar; geography with Bihar’s rivers; polity and economy, including Bihar’s economy since independence; the national movement and Bihar’s role; general mental ability.
Mains Part I — language, 30
English, with Hindi, Urdu or Bangla; qualifying at 30 per cent.
Mains Part II — general studies, 120 or 40
Elementary mathematics, mental ability, general awareness, general science, social science, Indian and Bihar history, geography and environment, at the level taught.
Mains Part III — the subject, 80
The subject at the level of the class taught, on SCERT and NCERT texts — mathematics and science, social science or a language for classes 6 to 8; the nine and twenty-two subjects of the higher levels.
STET — 150
The subject for 100 at graduation level for Paper I and honours level for Paper II; teaching art and other competencies for 50.
