Tamil Nadu Departmental Examinations — What the syllabus covers

Account tests
The Tamil Nadu Financial Code, Treasury Code, Account Code and the fundamental rules — budget, drawal and disbursement, audit objections, pay, allowances, advances and pensions — set in two parts for subordinate officers and one for executive officers, sixty per cent objective and forty descriptive with books.
Revenue tests and the Office Manual test
The revenue standing orders, land administration and the district office procedure in three parts, and the Tamil Nadu Government Office Manual — all now fully descriptive with books.
Criminal-law tests
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, each at general-principles and detailed-application level, with the amending Acts, the Probation of Offenders Act, the Juvenile Justice Act and the workplace harassment Act inside the general-principles syllabus; and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023. The jail, probation and transport tests are set on the same codes.
Departmental tests
Registration in three groups; commercial taxes in three parts; cooperation and cooperative audit; forest law and forest revenue; survey and land records for field surveyors, sub-inspectors and deputy inspectors; local fund audit and subordinate accounts; rural development and panchayat accounts; municipal administration in four papers; the medical code; and the tests of the agriculture, animal husbandry and marketing departments.
Language and translation tests
The second class language test in Tamil with a written part and viva; the third class language test by viva alone; the special and advanced language tests in Tamil for the education department; the general educational test at SSLC standard; and translation tests in six languages.
