LIC ADO — How to prepare

The candidate who does well in LIC ADO usually has a modest aptitude preparation and a strong grip on the insurance section — the reverse of the typical banking aspirant. The plan below is weighted accordingly, and it treats the interview as part of the preparation because it is a fifth of the final marks.

A ten-week LIC ADO preparation, assuming a January notice and March–April examinations as in 2023.

Aptitude base	1–3	Reasoning and numerical topics with 20-minute sectional tests; English reading daily.
Insurance and marketing	3–7	LIC plans and history, IRDAI, insurance terms, agency rules, schemes, marketing concepts — one topic a day, revised weekly.
Current affairs and GK	4–10	Monthly digest for the six months before the exam; static GK revision.
Mocks and interview	7–10	Prelims and mains mocks on the pattern; interview preparation on LIC’s products, the agency system and why the candidate wants a field role.

Priorities, in order

Insurance and financial marketing — sixty of 160 mains marks.
Reasoning and numerical speed — the prelims filter and 50 mains marks.
Attempting everything — no penalty.
The interview — forty of 200 final marks; it probes sales aptitude and local knowledge.

For LIC agents

the field knowledge you already have is the largest mains section; the preparation is the aptitude and current-affairs sections, which agents often neglect.
