NIACL Assistant — How to prepare

The NIACL Assistant candidate who is selected has usually done three things a bank-clerk aspirant does not: learned the computer section properly, read about general insurance for a few weeks, and chosen a state with realistic arithmetic. The plan makes room for all three.

A ten-week NIACL Assistant preparation, assuming the December advertisement and January–March tiers of 2024–25 recur.
PhaseWeeksWhat to do
Foundation1–4Reasoning, numerical and English drills with 20-minute sectional tests; accuracy tracking; newspaper daily.
Knowledge sections4–7Computer knowledge from a short standard text; insurance and financial awareness notes; monthly current-affairs digest.
Tier II build5–8Longer puzzles and DI; two RCs a day; full Tier II mocks weekly, scored against the state cut-off.
Final fortnight9–10Two full mocks a week; regional language reading and writing daily; documents ready for the language test.

Priorities, in order

  • Tier II against the state cut-off — the only marks that count.
  • Computer knowledge — fifty marks for a week’s work.
  • Insurance in general awareness — the part of the section a bank preparation misses.
  • Accuracy under the penalty — in both tiers.
  • The regional language — a qualifying gate that is fatal if failed.

Choosing the state

the advertisement’s state table and the previous cycle’s cut-off sheet together show where a given preparation stands the best chance; the language requirement limits the choice to states whose language you can actually read and write.
