Preliminary general studies	NCERT history, geography, polity, economy and science; a Bihar general knowledge book covering history, geography, rivers, economy and the freedom movement; a year of current affairs; a reasoning primer	Bihar questions recur in every cycle; the general mental ability section is short.
General studies I	Modern Indian history with Bihar’s movements — Champaran, the Santhal and Birsa risings, Quit India in Bihar; a current affairs compilation; a statistics primer for graphs and tables	The statistical questions are a fixed part of the paper.
General studies II	Indian polity, the Indian economy and Indian geography with Bihar chapters; a science and technology reader	Bihar’s polity, economy and geography are named in the syllabus.
