Tamil Nadu Police — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine built around the board’s structure

A Tamil test paper fortnightly To the notified length and time, from the archived booklets. Pass it comfortably every time; it is the gate.
A main paper weekly For Sub-Inspector, 140 questions in 150 minutes; for the Grade-II posts, 70 in 80. Every question answered — no penalty — and the guesses reviewed separately.
The three events weekly, measured Rope, jump and sprint for men; jump, throw and sprint for women. Log the distance and time against the star table. The efficiency test is a mock with a score.
The endurance run monthly 1500 metres in seven minutes or 400 in two and a half. Pass-or-fail, and no candidate should discover on the day that it is close.

Score the stars, not just the paper

A candidate at two stars in all three events has 15 or 24 marks in hand before the written result is known. Practise the events to the two-star standard — six metres on the rope, 4.50 in the long jump, 13.5 seconds over a hundred metres — because that is where the physical test stops being a hurdle and becomes a lead.
