- Tamil language eligibility test
- Tamil to the tenth standard of the Tamil Nadu State Board: grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, literature and usage as the school syllabus sets them. Objective, qualifying at 40 per cent, and marked before anything else.
- Part A — General knowledge, both posts
- General science, history, geography, economics, Indian polity, chemistry, biology, diet and nutrition, environmental science, physics and current affairs — the board’s own list. For the Grade-II posts, set at tenth-standard level; for Sub-Inspector, at degree level, with the Tamil Nadu layer through all of it.
- Part B — Psychology, Grade-II posts
- Twenty-five questions of psychological aptitude — attention, memory, reasoning under instruction, situational judgement — set by the board and practised best from its archived papers.
- Part B — Sub-Inspector
- Logical analysis; numerical analysis; psychology; communication skills in Tamil and English; information handling; and mental ability. Sixty questions across five skills that reward drilled method over reading.
Both syllabuses are published as short official documents, and the Constable one in Tamil. Read them as a list of subject headings and a statement of standard — tenth for the Grade-II posts, degree for Sub-Inspector — and use the archived papers to see how deep each heading actually goes.
