TNPSC Group 2A — How to prepare

A plan to the 2026 cycle

Now to 1 November — the prelims The language paper at half the question count; the Tamil Nadu units at 40 of the 75 general studies questions; aptitude drilled. Option E as a reflex.
November to the mains — Paper II General studies at depth with the state layer; reasoning drilled twice a week; fortnightly full papers on a screen; the Tamil eligibility paper monthly.
After the mains — preferences and documents Forty-seven post codes; rank them before the shortlist. Certificates in the notification’s form.

What the 2025 cycle taught

The Tamil test and the mains were nine days apart — 15 and 24 March 2026. Both have to be ready together.
Counselling came fourteen months after notification — July 2025 to September 2026.
The mains was on a computer — and the prelims on paper. Rehearse both formats.

TNPSC revises paper structure, marks, syllabus detail and eligibility between recruitment cycles, and has done so more than once in recent years — the Tamil eligibility component itself is a recent addition.
