TNPSC Group 2A Syllabus

The prelims is half language. The mains is three-quarters general studies and a quarter reasoning. Neither has a descriptive paper beyond the Tamil test.

The common preliminary examination by unit — the same paper as Group II.

Mains — Paper I, Tamil eligibility test
Tamil at SSLC standard: grammar, comprehension, composition and literature. Descriptive, three hours, 100 marks, 40 to pass.
Mains — Paper II, general studies
One hundred and fifty objective questions at degree standard on the prelims syllabus at greater depth: Tamil Nadu’s history, culture, economy and administration; the Indian polity; the national movement; science; geography; and current affairs.
Mains — Paper II, general intelligence and reasoning
Fifty objective questions at SSLC standard: verbal and non-verbal reasoning, series, analogies, coding, direction sense, puzzles and data interpretation.
