TNPSC Group 4 — How to prepare

A plan to the December 2026 examination

  1. Now to October — Tamil and the foundation SSLC Tamil as a subject; general studies at SSLC standard with the Tamil Nadu layer; aptitude daily. The typewriting and shorthand certificates in hand for the typist posts.
  2. October — the notification Four weeks to apply. Read the post codes, the units and the age clause for your community before the syllabus; rank your preferences.
  3. October to December — papers under the clock A full paper weekly with the gate and the blank rule; Tamil sectionals midweek.
  4. After the examination — the documents Onscreen verification opens within weeks of the rank list and uploads have a window. Counselling runs in phases across months.

What the 2025 cycle taught

  • The vacancy list grew by a third after notification — 3,935 to 5,307 across three addenda, with new post codes. Read every addendum.
  • The blank rule was added by addendum — a month after notification. It changed how the paper had to be answered.
  • Counselling ran for a year — four phases from December 2025 to July 2026, and the forest posts through August, with no final list by September.
  • The date held — 12 July 2025 as notified. The planner’s 20 December 2026 is tentative, but the commission has kept recent Group 4 dates.

TNPSC revises paper structure, marks, syllabus detail and eligibility between recruitment cycles, and has done so more than once in recent years — the Tamil eligibility component itself is a recent addition. Everything here describes the shape the recruitment has held; the notification for the cycle you are sitting is the document that decides it. Read it end to end before you plan around any figure.
