TNPSC Group 4 — What the syllabus covers

Part A — Tamil
A hundred questions at the SSLC standard of the state board, set in Tamil: grammar — sandhi, samasa, verb forms, sentence types — vocabulary, comprehension, Tamil literature and its authors, and the Tamil of everyday administrative use. The gate at 60 and a full 150 towards the rank.
Part B — General studies
General science; current events; the geography of India and Tamil Nadu; the history and culture of India and the national movement; the history, culture, heritage and socio-political movements of Tamil Nadu; the Indian polity; the Indian economy and the development administration of Tamil Nadu. Seventy-five questions at SSLC standard.
Part C — Aptitude and mental ability
Twenty-five questions of SSLC arithmetic — simplification, percentages, ratio, averages, area and volume, interest — and reasoning — series, analogy, coding, puzzles, data interpretation.

The commission publishes one syllabus document for the paper and labels its first section general studies where the notification labels it Tamil; the content is the same. Read the whole paper as SSLC-standard — the difficulty is breadth and speed, not depth.
