TGPSC Group 2 Previous Papers

Group 2 has an unusually useful archive, because the same four subjects have been examined repeatedly in the same objective format.

TGPSC Group 2 — Reading previous papers properly

Papers set under the TSPSC name are the same examination under the commission’s earlier title. Use them. Between them and the Group 1 prelims papers, there is enough material to see how the commission phrases a question, how deep it goes on the Constitution and the state economy, and how it examines the movement.

What the archive tells you that a syllabus cannot

  • The depth of the polity questions — whether an article is asked by number or by content, and how often amendments and constitutional bodies appear.
  • How the movement paper is framed — the balance between chronology, documents, organisations and named individuals. It is not evenly distributed, and the distribution is stable.
  • Which parts of the state economy recur — irrigation projects, agriculture, power and the state’s development programmes come back more often than general economic theory.
  • The reasoning and data interpretation share — a small, reliable block of marks in the general abilities paper that responds to a few weeks of practice.
  • The current-affairs window — roughly how far back regional and national current affairs are drawn from, which tells you when to start compiling.

Work each paper twice. The first time to time, scored as a mock. The second without a clock, writing a one-line note against every question you got wrong saying whether the cause was recall, misreading or a genuine gap. The second pass is where the paper turns into a study plan.

A four-week past-paper cycle

  1. Week one — sit two full past papers cold. No preparation, no lookups, full time. The purpose is a baseline, and it will be uncomfortable.
  2. Week two — tag every question you missed. By narrow topic, and by cause: did not know, knew and misread, knew and ran out of time. The three have different fixes and mixing them wastes the exercise.
  3. Week three — study only the top ten tags. Nothing else. The temptation to revise what you already know is strong, and it is the usual reason scores plateau.
  4. Week four — sit two more papers and compare tags. If the same tags reappear, the study was reading rather than learning. Solve questions on those tags instead of rereading them.

Group 2 has an unusual advantage in the archive. Because Groups 2, 3 and 4 draw on overlapping general studies material, papers from all three are usable practice for the shared portion. Use the Group 3 and Group 4 papers for general studies and current-affairs drilling, and reserve the Group 2 papers themselves for full timed rehearsals, so the most representative material is not exhausted early.
