APPSC Group 4 Preparation

The paper recurs; the vacancy does not. Prepare for the paper continuously and treat each notification as a question about eligibility and cadre rather than about syllabus.

APPSC Group 4 — How to prepare

A nine-month plan

  1. Months one to three — the two syllabuses General studies at degree standard with the Andhra Pradesh layer built in from the start; English and Telugu grammar and comprehension at SSC standard, daily. Begin the office-software practice in month one.
  2. Months four to six — the penalty and the pace Weekly full papers scored with one-third negative marking. Learn from the scores when to leave a question. Fortnightly state-content sectionals.
  3. Months seven to nine — hold ready Maintenance rather than new material, with the proficiency practical kept weekly. When a notification appears, read the cadre and local-status clause first, then the vacancy table, then the syllabus — in that order.

What recent cycles taught

  • The notification may be for one post — the 2025 notification was for a single carried-forward vacancy with a specific district and a specific reservation. Reading the vacancy table is not optional.
  • Local status decides the list you are on — district posts are open to candidates local to that district, and the ranking list goes to the District Collector. A non-local candidate may be preparing for a list they cannot join.
  • The typewriting certificate is a prerequisite — typist and stenographer posts require Government Technical Examination certificates held at application. They cannot be earned inside a notification window.
  • The proficiency test is where written ranks are lost — it adds nothing to the rank and removes candidates from it. Comfortable competence in three office applications, with typing speed, is the standard.

Confirm the structure against your own notification

APPSC revises paper structure, marks, syllabus detail and eligibility between recruitment cycles, and has done so more than once in recent years. Everything here describes the shape the recruitment has held; the notification for the cycle you are sitting is the document that decides it. Read it end to end before you plan around any figure.
