A reading list by paper and post family.
Paper	Standard	What to work from
General studies	Degree, or SSC for the draughtsman post	The standard degree-level general studies texts with the Andhra Pradesh layer — the state’s geography, economy, administration and the bifurcation — and a current affairs digest.
AEE — civil and mechanical common, and the discipline	Bachelor’s	The core textbooks of the engineering degree, unit by unit against the notification annexure, and the 2016 AEE screening papers for level.
AE — civil or mechanical common	Diploma	The state technical board’s diploma curriculum texts, and the 2011 AE common paper.
Forestry	Degree, with SSC mathematics	A general forestry text covering silviculture, mensuration, protection, wildlife and forest law, plus a school mathematics reference.
Town planning	Post-graduate	The planning curriculum: urban and regional planning, transport, housing, planning law and the state’s own planning framework.
Lecturer subjects	Post-graduate	The university curriculum of the subject at master’s level, and the archived lecturer papers for the discipline.
Computer proficiency	Practical	A word processor, spreadsheet and presentation tool used regularly. The test is timed and typing speed is part of it.

Read the annexure before buying anything

The syllabus for each technical post is the annexure of its notification, and it names the units. A candidate who buys a general competitive-exam engineering guide is buying coverage of units the paper does not set at a level the paper may not use. The annexure and the curriculum of the degree it asks for are the reading list.
