TNPSC Group 1 — Using mock tests as a measurement

A routine built around the scheme

  1. A descriptive paper every week, from now One of General Studies I, II or III, three hours by hand, to the word limits of the published papers. Reread a month later.
  2. A prelims paper fortnightly, until 27 September 200 questions in three hours, option E for every unknown, scored with half a mark off per blank. Then monthly, to keep the habit for the next cycle.
  3. A Tamil paper monthly Three hours of SSLC-standard composition and comprehension. It removes candidates who never practised it.
  4. A full four-paper simulation before the mains Four consecutive days, as the commission schedules it.
  5. Mock interviews once the mains is written From the application form — district, degree, employment — and the state’s live administrative questions.

Score the prelims the commission’s way

A mock scored without the blank deduction and without option E trains the wrong reflex. The commission’s rule is that an unknown answer is a darkened E, not a blank; a mock that does not enforce it is not a rehearsal.
